Tuesday, February 8, 2022 – Senators Wanda Thomas Bernard, Marilou McPhedran and Kim Pate took part in a virtual panel discussion on youth community engagement with Brock University students. Dr. Heather Ramey, assistant professor at the university’s Department of Child and Youth Studies moderated the session. Senators shared with students how community engagement shaped who they are today and how today’s youth can further get involved in society.

Friday, February 11, 2022 – Senators Julie Miville-Dechêne and Bernadette Clement participate in an activity called “express committee meetings” during the 11th Legislature of the Pan-Canadian Youth Parliament. The senators, who were invited as expert witnesses on the issues of modern slavery and housing, answered questions from mock MPs to help fuel debate during the simulated House of Commons sessions.

The senator also presented remarks during the association’s convention, in which he thanked the hardworking board and volunteers for providing resources, education and support to local agricultural societies across Ontario.
