Thursday, March 17, 2022 – Senator Paula Simons meets with members of La Commission nationale des parents francophones (CNPF) to discuss the importance of Bill C-13, an Act for the Substantive Equality of Canada’s Official Languages, for francophone communities throughout Canada.

Friday, March 18, 2022 – Senator Michèle Audette participates in Motivate Canada’s ViaYOUTH Summit, an annual event designed to empower young Canadians to contribute to social and economic issues. Participants asked the senator about her path to the Senate, her experience as a community leader and her resilience in life.

Wednesday, March 23, 2022 — Senator Salma Ataullahjan is joined by her colleagues senators Victor Oh and Mohamed-Iqbal Ravalia at the High Commission of Pakistan in Canada, where the High Commissioner, on behalf of the President of Pakistan, honoured her with one of the country’s highest civilian honours — the Sitara-e-Pakistan — in recognition of her humanitarian work.

Wednesday, March 23, 2022 — Senator Victor Oh meets Her Excellency Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Canada. They discussed a variety of issues concerning Canada and Malaysia, including what makes Canada an attractive choice for Malaysian students looking to study abroad. 

Monday, March 28, 2022 — Senator Tony Loffreda joins Silvana Di Flavio and Nick De Vincenzo on Appuntamento. In this 2-part interview, Senator Loffreda discussed the war in Ukraine and the tragic human loss, long-term impacts on families and some of the subsequent economic and trade consequences.

Tuesday, March 29, 2022 – Senator Robert Black participates in Karsh’s “Aggies” roundtable along with agriculture industry representatives from across the country. The virtual roundtable was an opportunity to discuss issues, concerns and opportunities facing Canadian agriculture.

Tuesday, March 29, 2022 — Senator Jean-Guy Dagenais meets with interns from the Fondation Jean-Charles-Bonenfant during an online event organized by SENgage. The senator and the interns discussed the role of the Senate in Canada’s parliamentary system.

Tuesday, March 29, 2022 – Senator Robert Black meets with representatives from the Grain Growers of Canada to discuss issues facing Canada’s grain farmers. Senator Black also learned about the organization’s newly announced “Road to 2050” net-zero emissions initiative.

Wednesday, March 30, 2022 – Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard meets virtually with participants from the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) to celebrate Social Worker Month. During this event, Senator Bernard paid tribute to the late Alexa McDonough, discussed her own career path and shared lessons learned from her own advocacy efforts.

Wednesday, March 30, 2022 – Senator David M. Arnot virtually visits students from Lumsden High School in Lumsden, Saskatchewan. The senator, formerly Chief Commissioner of the Saskatchewan Human Right Commission, spoke to Grade 11 and 12 history students about the importance of citizenship education.

Thursday, March 31, 2022 – Senator Peter Boehm speaks to Canadian and international students as part of this year’s second virtual Global Café, an event organized with the department of political studies at the University of Saskatchewan. The senator took questions on Canada’s foreign policy, his career in foreign service and the work of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Thursday, March 31, 2022 – Senators Peter Boehm and Peter Harder meet with a delegation of members of Ukraine Parliament and Yulia Kovaliv, Abassador-designate of Ukraine to Canada, in Parliament’s West Block. Senators Boehm and Harder were invited to the meeting, and attended, in their respective capacities as chair and deputy chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
