Tuesday, August 30, 2022 – Senator Rosa Galvez participates in the Canadian Sustainable Finance Network Conference in Victoria, British Columbia, to present Bill S-243, Enacting Climate Commitments Act, that she introduced in the Senate in March 2022. She also presented ideas on how to help the financial sector transition to a low-carbon economy.

Wednesday, August 31, 2022 – Senator Nancy J. Hartling (centre) meets with Minister Furuya Tokuro (right), the Embassy of Japan in Canada’s Deputy Head of Mission, at the town hall of Riverview, New Brunswick, to discuss economic development in the Atlantic provinces, women’s issues in the workplace and other matters. Riverview Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc (left) greeted them at the town hall.

Thursday, September 1, 2022 – Senator Yvonne Boyer (third from the left) participates in a hybrid meeting with UBC Press executives to discuss ways to help Indigenous authors through the publishing process and how to market to Indigenous audiences.

Saturday, September 3, 2022 – Senator Yvonne Boyer boards the Falkins Class – Type 2 jet boat of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCM-SAR) where she had the chance to train alongside volunteers from RCM-SAR Station #2 as they sailed through Vancouver Harbour, Burrard Inlet and up Indian Arm. Her visit allowed her to learn about marine search and rescue in British Columbia, and the services provided by volunteer crews in more than 30 search and rescue units throughout the province.

Tuesday, September 6, 2022 – Senator Bernadette Clement presents paramedic Scott Halliday with his Exemplary Service Medal for 20 years of meritorious service. She also gave him a tour of the Senate of Canada Building while discussing the role of the Senate and the importance of paramedicine.

Tuesday, September 6, 2022 – In Berlin, Germany, Senator Ratna Omidvar, co-chair of the Canada-Germany Interparliamentary Group (CADE) meets with German Member of Parliament, Bernd Rützel, who Chairs the German Arm version of the Group. They discussed how Canada and Germany can strengthen their relationship to build a stronger and better future together.

Tuesday, September 6, 2022 – Senator Ratna Omidvar (second from the right) and Senator Tony Loffreda (back centre) attend the 25th International Metropolis Conference in Berlin, Germany, on immigration policy. Thursday, September 8, 2022 – For International FASD Day on September 9, Senator Pat Duncan (left) attended a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Society Yukon lunch at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre in Whitehorse, Yukon. The event included FASD information kiosks courtesy of the Yukon Liquor Corporation. Senator Duncan, who has fostered public awareness about the disorder for many years, posed with members of the Yukon Interagency Committee during these events, holding a token of little red running shoes provided by CanFASD.

Thursday, September 8, 2022 – Accompanied by Roger Augustine (left) and Galen Augustine (right), Senator Brian Francis visits Gitpo Spirit Lodge in Eel Ground First Nation (New Brunswick) to learn more about their work in providing a range of supports in cultural teachings including but not limited to, drumming, singing and dancing. The lodge seeks to tackle the stigma around treatment for Indigenous men and boys who face mental health challenges. Senator Francis was impressed by their efforts to improve the health and well-being of First Nations in the community and beyond.

Friday, September 9, 2022 – As part of a week-long series of meetings in Calgary, Alberta, Senator Karen Sorensen, who co-chairs the Parliamentary Tourism Caucus, meets with Kurby Court, President and CEO of the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. She toured the centre and learned more about the impact convention centres have on the economy and local tourism as well as the opportunities and challenges the industry faces.

Monday, September 12, 2022 – In Copenhagen, Denmark, Senator Jane Cordy (fourth from the left, front row) chairs a meeting at the Folketing (Danish Parliament) for the Sub-Committee on Resilience and Civil Security of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Democracy and Security. They discussed climate change in the Arctic and Danish security policy after the invasion of Ukraine.
