The Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans began a study on aquaculture in January 2014. During the study, the Committee sat for 66 hours, held 34 public hearings, heard the views of 138 witnesses, and received hundreds of written submissions. It also visited 23 Canadian regions in six provinces – British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Québec – and conducted fact-finding missions in Norway and Scotland.
