On February 27, 2014, the Senate Committee on Human Rights began a study on how cross-border kidnappings are handled by the countries involved. Specifically, the committee looked at how well the Hague Abduction Conventions, which create a procedure for returning children abducted in another country. Their report, Alert: Challenges and International Mechanisms to Address Cross-Border Child Abduction, was published July 24, 2015.
