INVITE A SENATOR
TO YOUR NEXT EVENT

Bring Parliament to you!

Looking for a unique way to spark conversations about civic engagement? Inviting a senator to your classroom or youth event, whether in person or virtually, is a fantastic way to encourage young people to become politically engaged. SENgage will support you every step of the way, making it simple to bring Parliament to you.

The process

  1. Fill out the request form at least six weeks before your requested dates.
  2. A member of the SENgage team will contact you to start the planning.
  3. The SENgage team will coordinate your request and inform you once a senator has agreed to participate.
  4. If available, a senator will attend your event and speak about the role and work of the Senate.

Organize a Model Parliament

Work with the SENgage team to host a model parliament in the Senate Chamber.

A model parliament allows youth to step into the roles of parliamentarians and experience the legislative process firsthand. Your group will debate and decide on issues in the very space where real senators meet. To host a model parliament, you must:

  • Be a recognized student association or youth-serving organization.
  • Have no more than 200 participants.
  • Submit a request at least eight weeks before your requested dates.

Please note that these requests are coordinated on a case-by-case basis. The SENgage team coordinates the logistics of hosting the event at the Senate of Canada Building but does not produce any programming related to your model parliament.

Please email SENgage@sen.parl.gc.ca with details of your request and we will be in touch with you shortly.
