The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries met at 9:30 a.m. this day, in Room 520-VB, the Chairman the Honourable Senator Comeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Comeau, Doody, Landry, Marchand and Petten. (5)
In attendance from the Library of Parliament: Claude Emery, Research Officer, Research Branch.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESS:
From the University of Ottawa:
R. Quentin Grafton, Professor, Economics.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 13, 1997, the committee resumed its examination of the questions of privatization and quota licensing in Canada's fisheries.
Mr. Grafton made an opening remarks and answered questions.
At a later date, Mr. Grafton will provide written responses to questions asked by Senator Comeau.
At 11:20 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
