The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day, at 9:05 a.m., in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Fairbairn, Hays, Rossiter, Spivak, Stratton and Whelan (7).
In attendance: Jean-Denis Fréchette and June Dewetering, Research Officers, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to its order of reference, adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 14 1998, the committee commenced its examination of Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rbST) and its effect on the human and animal health safety aspects.
