The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met in camera at 6:20 p.m.. this day, in Room 172-E, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Gustafson, Hays, Robichaud, P.C. (Saint-Louis-de-Kent) and Whelan, P.C. (4).

In attendance: June Dewetering, Research Officer, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and the future of agriculture in Canada, consideration of a draft budget.

It was agreed, -- That the budget be adopted and brought to Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration for approval.

The Honourable Senator Daniel Hays moved, -- That expenses to send June Dewetering to Canada-U.S. meeting in May be covered by the committee.

The question being put on motion, -- it was agreed.

It was agreed, -- That the Chair be authorized to send participants on conferences after consulting the steering committee.

At 6:55 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
