The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 10:45 a.m. this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chairmand, the Honourable Senator Stratton, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Stratton, Cook, Cools, De Bané, Ferretti Barth, Fraser, Grimard, Moore and Nolin (8).

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 16, 1999, the committee began its examination of Bill C-65, to amend the Federal-Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act.

After debate,

It was agreed -- That the committee complete clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-65

It was agreed -- That clause 1 to 6 carry.

It was agreed -- That the title carry.

It was agreed -- That Bill C-65, carry.

It was agreed -- That Bill C-65 be reported to the Senate without amendment.

The committee considered its future business.

At 11:15 a.m., the committee continued its consideration of future business in camera.

At 11:50 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
