The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 10:45 a.m. this day, in Room 356-S, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable Anne C. Cools, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Cook, Cools, Ferretti-Barth and Lavoie-Roux (5).
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESS:
From the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs:
Guy Y. Goulard, Commissioner.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 4, 1999, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates laid before Parliament for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2000.
The committee considered a draft report.
After debate,
Senator Bolduc moved, -- That the Chair be authorised to present an interim report to the Senate on its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2000.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
Mr. Goulard made a statement and answered questions.
Senator Cools moved that the documents forwarded by Mr. Goulard be table with the committee.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 12:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
