The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 6:00 p.m., in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Poulin, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Fitzpatrick, Forrestall, Johnstone, Maheu, Maloney, Poulin, Roberge, Rompkey, P.C. and Spivak (10).

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on March 25, 1999, the committee proceeded to consider Bill C-55, An Act respecting advertising services supplied by foreign periodical publishers. (See Issue No. 22, Tuesday, April 13, 1999 for full text of the Order of Reference.)
Mr. Peter Clark made a statement and answered questions.
As a panel, the witnesses from the Alliance of Manufacturers & Exporters Canada and from the Free Trade Lumber Council made statements and answered questions.
The committee suspended sitting at 7:25 p.m.
The committee resumed sitting at 7:35 p.m.
