The Committee of Selection of the Senate met this day at 6:20 o'clock p.m. to nominate a senator to preside as Speaker pro tempore , in accordance with Rule 85(1)(a) of the Rules of the Senate .

Senator Léonce Mercier (Chairman) presiding.

The Chairman: We are meeting today to nominate a Speaker pro tempore.

Senator Kinsella: I move that the Honourable Senator Rose-Marie Losier-Cool be appointed Speaker pro tempore.

The Chairman: Is the motion agreed to, honourable senators?

Hon. Senators: Agreed.

The Chairman: Motion agreed to. The next motion is that the Chairman of the committee present a report to the Senate in respect of the nomination of the Speaker pro tempore, as confirmed at today's meeting.

Senator Kinsella: Mr. Chairman, I move that the Chairman present a report to the Senate.

The Chairman: Are honourable senators agreed?

Hon. Senators: Agreed.
