Second reading of Bill C-54, An Act to provide first nations with the option of managing and regulating oil and gas exploration and exploitation and of receiving moneys otherwise held for them by Canada.

The Honourable Senator Zimmer moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Peterson, that the bill be read the second time.

The bill was then read the second time.

The Honourable Senator Zimmer moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Campbell, that the bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.
