The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day, at 9:07 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the Honourable Senator Lise Bacon, Chair, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Austin, P.C., Bacon, Chaput, Cools, Eyton, Joyal, P.C., Milne, Mitchell, Pearson, Ringuette, Rivest, St. Germain, P.C. and Stratton (13).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Prud'homme, P.C. (1).

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament Mary C. Hurley, Analyst.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-38. (For complete text of Order of Reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 19).

At 1:55 p.m., it was agreed that the committee proceed immediately to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-38.
