The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day, in room 9, Victoria Building, at 8:12 a.m., the Chair, the Honourable Tommy Banks, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Banks, Milne, Sibbeston and Tardif (5).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Sam Banks, Lynne Myers and Kristen Douglas.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 27, 2006, the committee continued its review of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (1999, c. 33) pursuant to Section 343(1) of the said act. A discussion of issues related to the mandate of the committee took place.
The Honourable Senator Angus moved that the committee not examine smog as part of their study on the Canadian Environmental Protection Act.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The Honourable Senator Cochrane moved that the draft work plan for the committee be adopted.

At 10:20 a.m., the committee resumed in public.
The Honourable Senator Angus moved that the following special study budget application be approved for submission to the Standing Senate Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.
