The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 9:05 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Donald H. Oliver, Chair, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Campbell, Cools, Day, Fraser, Lebreton, P.C., Mercer, Milne, Oliver, Segal, Stratton, and Zimmer (11).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Comeau (1).
In attendance: Kristen Douglas and Sebastian Spano, Analysts, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-2, providing for conflict of interest rules, restrictions on election financing and measures respecting administrative transparency, oversight and accountability. It was agreed that, because of technical difficulties, Mr. Gardner and Mr. Carpentier resume their testimony at the committee's next meeting.
At 12:00 p.m, the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
