The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 10:50 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the Chair, Honourable Donald H. Oliver, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Baker, P.C., Bryden, Di Nino, Fraser, Joyal, P.C., Milne, Oliver, Rivest and Stratton (10).
In attendance: Margaret Young and Sebastian Spano, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 23, 2006, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-16, to amend the Canada Elections Act. (For complete text of Order of Reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 18.)

Green Party of Canada:
David Chernushenko, Senior Deputy.
The Chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Hogg made a statement and answered questions.
At 12:17 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 12:20 p.m., the committee resumed
Mr. Chernushenko made a statement and answered questions.
At 1:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-16, to amend the Canada Elections Act during on Thursday, February 15, 2007.
Ms. Di Carlo and Mr. Brisson each made a statement and answered questions.
At 6:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
