Proceedings of the Standing Committee on
Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration
Issue 2 - Evidence - June 17, 2008
OTTAWA, Tuesday, June 17, 2008
The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met this day at 9:03 a.m. to consider a Report of the Subcommittee on the Review of Committee Budgets (Legislative Budget — Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce).
Senator George J. Furey (Chair) in the chair.
[English]
The Chair: Honourable senators, thank you for coming. We have a budget to discuss, which Senator Robichaud will present.
[Translation]
Senator Robichaud: Mr. Chair, do committee members have a copy of the budget?
The Chair: Yes.
Senator Robichaud: Thank you.
The Subcommittee on the Review of Committee Budgets of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration has the honour to present its ninth report.
Your subcommittee recommends the release of the following amounts for the fiscal year 2008-2009: Banking, Trade and Commerce (legislation), professional and other services, $28,000; transportation and communications, $0; all other expenses, $8,000; for a total of $36,000.
Respectfully submitted by myself as Chair and committee members Senators Nancy Ruth and Cook, who replaced Senator Downe this morning.
I move that the report be adopted.
[English]
The Chair: Are there any questions, colleagues? Is there a motion to adopt the report? Moved by Senator Comeau.
All those in favour?
Hon. Senators: Agreed.
The Chair: Opposed?
Carried.
Senator Nancy Ruth: According to what I understand, this $6,000 is to pay for email or a daily financial monitor. Any senator or anyone can have it if they want it. Just let the clerk know. It does not cost more to add people to the list. Some people might be interested in the summer.
The Chair: Thank you for that information.
Are there any questions? If not, thank you very much.
The committee adjourned.
