Issue 5 - Fourth Report of the Committee

Thursday, June 4, 2009

The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry has the honour to table its

FOURTH REPORT

Your committee, which was authorized by the Senate on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, to examine and report on rural poverty in Canada, now tables its final report, entitled Beyond Freefall: Halting Rural Poverty, which was previously tabled in the Senate on June 16, 2008, during the Second Session of the Thirty-ninth Parliament.

The said report, dated June 2008, is endorsed by your committee.

Respectfully submitted,

JOYCE FAIRBAIRN

Deputy Chair

NOTE:

The report entitled Beyond Freefall: Halting Rural Poverty was initially adopted by the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry during the Second Session of the 39th Parliament and was then tabled in the Senate on June 16, 2008.

On May 26, 2009, during the Second Session of the 40th Parliament, the Senate adopted a motion referring the same order of reference to the committee. The committee re-adopted the earlier report without change and tabled it in the Senate on June 4, 2009. Since the contents of the two reports are the same, the committee has decided not to reprint it during the current session of Parliament. For the text of the full report, refer to Issue No. 16, June 2008, Second Session, 39th Parliament.
