The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 6:25 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cordy, Duffy, Eaton, Fairbairn, P.C., Johnson, Mahovlich, Mercer, Mockler, and Rivard (9).
In attendance: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, the committee continued its consideration of the current state and future of Canada's forest sector. (For complete text of order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

Mr. Marcotte made an opening statement and answered questions.

The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:00 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carstairs, P.C., Cordy, Eaton, Mahovlich, Mercer, Mockler, Poulin and Rivard (8).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Martin (1).

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-29, An Act to increase the availability of agricultural loans and to repeal the Farm Improvement Loans Act.

Mr. Ritz made an opening statement and, together with the witnesses, answered questions.
At 9 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:06 a.m., the committee resumed.
Pursuant to rule 96(7.1), it was agreed, with leave, that the committee dispense with clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-29.
It was agreed that the bill be adopted without amendment.
It was agreed that the bill be reported to the Senate at the next sitting.
At 9:10 a.m., pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the committee proceeded in camera to discuss a draft agenda.
At 9:17 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
