The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day, at 6:25 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Grant Mitchell, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Banks, Campbell, Manning, Merchant, Milne, Mitchell, Neufeld, St.Germain, P.C., Sibbeston and Spivak (11).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Brown (1).
In attendance: Sam Banks and Penny Becklumb, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate onMay27, 2009, the committee continued its examination of BillC-16, An Act to amend certain acts that relate to the environment and to enact provisions respecting the enforcement of certain acts that relate to the environment (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No.8).

Mr.Boucher, Mr.O'Connor, Ms.Arsoniadis Stein and Captain Brown each made a statement and, together with Mr.Lahay, answered questions.
At 8:25 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 8:30 p.m., the committee resumed.
Pursuant to rule92(2)(e), it was agreed that the committee proceed in camera to consider its future agenda and that senators' staff be authorized to remain in the room during the in camera portion of the meeting.
