The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day at 2:08 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Brazeau, Jaffer, Martin, Mercer, Mitchell and Nancy Ruth (7).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Hubley (1).
In attendance: Allison Goody and Julia Nicol, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, the committee continued its examination of issues relating to human rights and, inter alia, the review of the machinery of government dealing with Canada's international and national human rights obligations. At 4:17 p.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Angell made a statement and, with Ms. Golberg, Mr. Junke, Ms. Kostiuk and Chief Superintendant Fleury, answered questions.
At 5:35 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
