The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day, at 9:30 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cochrane, Dawson, Johnson, Mercer, Merchant, Mockler, Plett and Zimmer (8).

In attendance: Terry Thomas and Dillan Theckedath, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, the committee continued its study on the emerging issues related to its communications mandate and to report on the wireless sector. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

Jane Tallim, Co-Executive Director;

Cathy Wing, Co-Executive Director.

Cathy Wing and Jane Tallim each made a statement, and together answered questions.

At 10:34 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Frum, Johnson, Mercer, Merchant, Plett and Zimmer (6).

Teresa Griffin-Muir made a statement and, together with Jenny Crowe, answered questions.

At 7:33 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:37 p.m., the committee resumed.

Erik Boch made a statement and answered questions.

At 8:18 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
