The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:20 p.m, in room 9, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Michael A. Meighen, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Frum, Gerstein, Greene, Harb, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Kochhar, Manning, Massicotte, Meighen, Mockler, Moore and Ringuette (12).

In attendance: John Bulmer, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, June M. Dewetering, Chief, Macroeconomics, Library of Parliament; and Francine Pressault, Communications Officer, Communication Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, the committee continued its examination on extent to which Canadians in Tax-Free Savings Accounts and registered retirement savings plans. Mr. Dunn and Mr. Andrews each made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:25 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:27 p.m., the committee resumed.

Ms. Di Vito and Mr. Hamilton each made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:25 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
