The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day, at 5:34 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable W. David Angus, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Banks, Brown, Frum, Lang, Massicotte, McCoy, Mitchell, Neufeld, Peterson and Seidman (11).
In attendance: Sam Banks and Marc LeBlanc, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the committee continued its examination of the current state and future of Canada's energy sector (including alternative energy). (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1).

Pierre-Olivier Pineau, Associate Professor, Department of Management Sciences.
University of Calgary:
David Keith, Canada Research Chair in Energy and the Environment (by video conference).
The chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Pineau made a statement and answered questions.
At 6:51 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:11 p.m., the committee resumed.

At 10:13 a.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 18, 2010, the committee began its examination of Bill S-210, an Act to amend the Federal Sustainable Development Act and the Auditor General Act (involvement of Parliament).
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill S-210, an Act to amend the Federal Sustainable Development Act and the Auditor General Act (involvement of Parliament).
With leave, it was agreed that the committee dispense with clause-by-clause consideration of Bill S-210, An Act to amend the Federal Sustainable Development Act and the Auditor General Act (involvement of Parliament).
It was agreed that the bill carry.
It was agreed that the chair report the bill without amendment to the Senate at the earliest opportunity.
At 10:20 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
