The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 5:08 p.m. in room 9 of the Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Maria Chaput, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Champagne, P.C., Chaput, De Bané, P.C., Fortin- Duplessis, Seidman and Tardif (6).
Other Senator present: The Honourable Senator Fraser (1).
In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Research Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Francine Pressault, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, the committee continued its study on the application of the Official Languages Act and of the regulations and directives made under it. Sylvain Giguère, Assistant Commissioner, Policy and Communications Branch.
Mr. Fraser made a presentation and, with the assistance of Ms. Ludvig and Mr. Giguère, answered questions.
At 6:40 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:46 p.m., pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda.
At 7:03 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
