The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day, in camera, at 10:30 a.m., in room 705, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Dawson, De Bané, P.C., Demers, Fortin-Duplessis, Robichaud, P.C., Smith, P.C., (Cobourg), Wallace and Wells (10).

In attendance: Natalie Mychajlyszyn and Brian Hermon, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, the committee continued its study on economic and political developments in the Republic of Turkey, their regional and global influences, the implications for Canadian interests and opportunities, and other related matters. It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded to consider a draft report.

At 11:18 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
