The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met in camera this day, at 6:47 p.m., in room 256-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Vernon White, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Campbell, Demers, Dyck, Patterson, Raine, Seth, Sibbeston, Watt and White (10).

In attendance: Shauna Troniak and Wren Nasr, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, the committee continued its consideration on the evolving legal and political recognition of the collective identity and rights of the Métis in Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 14.)

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

It was agreed that staff be permitted to remain during the in camera portion of the meeting.

At 7:46 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
