The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 5:03 p.m. in room 9 of the Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Maria Chaput, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Buth, Champagne, P.C., Chaput, De Bané, P.C., Fortin-Duplessis, Mockler, Robichaud, P.C., and Tardif (8).
In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, the committee continued its study on the use of the Internet, new media and social media and the respect for Canadians' language rights. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 17, 2011, the committee began its study on CBC/Radio-Canada's obligations under the Official Languages Act and some aspects of the Broadcasting Act.

Diane Laflamme, Chief of Planning, Regional Services, French Services.
Mr. Hutton made a statement and, along with Ms. Leclair, Ms. Lehoux and Mr. Comeau, answered questions.
At 6:30 p.m., the committee was suspended.
At 6:38 p.m., the committee resumed.
Ms. Pleszczynska made a statement and, along with Ms. Laflamme, answered questions.
At 8 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
