The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:05 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Campbell, Lovelace Nicholas, Manning, McInnis, Poirier, Raine, Robichaud, P.C., Stewart Olsen, Watt and Wells (11).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the committee continued to examine issues relating to the regulation of aquaculture in Canada and future prospects for the industry. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 14.)
WITNESSES:
Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance:
Bruce Hancock, Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia;
Ruth Salmon, Executive Director.
Ms. Salmon made a presentation and, together with Mr. Hancock, answered questions.
At 6:35 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
