The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 4:02 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Pamela Wallin, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire, Day, Lang, Manning, Mitchell, Plett and Wallin (7).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Dawson (1).
In attendance: Martin Auger and Holly Porteous, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, the committee continued its study of the status of, and lessons learned, during Canadian Forces operations in Afghanistan. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 5.)

Major-General Michael Day, Former Deputy Commander General of the NATO Training Mission — Afghanistan (NTM-A).
Major-General Day made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:00 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
