The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:28 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth. Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cordy, Dyck, Eaton, Eggleton, P.C., Enverga, Martin, Merchant, Munson, Ogilvie, Seidman, Seth and Verner, P.C. (12).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, the committee continued its study on prescription pharmaceuticals in Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 12.)

Dr. Anne Rowan-Legg, Member, Community Paediatrics Committee.

The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada:

Dr. Jennifer Blake, Chief Executive Officer.

Canadian Geriatrics Society:

Dr. Allen Huang, Member.

The chair made a statement.

Dr. Rowan-Legg, Dr. Blake and Dr. Huang each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
