The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met in camera this day at 9:35 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Dagenais, Day, Lang, Mitchell, Ngo, Stewart Olsen and White (8).

In attendance: Adam Thompson, Clerk of the Committee, Holly Porteous and Jean-Philippe Duguay, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 19, 2014, the committee continued its study on security threats facing Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 9.)

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room.

It was agreed that the committee allow the recording of the in camera portion of the meeting, that one copy be kept in the office of the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members and/or by the committee analysts, and that the transcript be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of this parliamentary session.

At 12:18 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 12:22 p.m., the committee resumed.

It was agreed:

That the draft report, as amended, be adopted; and

That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be empowered to approve the final version of the report, taking into consideration this meeting's discussions, and with any necessary editorial, grammatical, translation and formatting changes required; and

That the chair be authorized to table the report with the Clerk of the Senate at the earliest opportunity.

At 1:39 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
