The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:29 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Eggleton, P.C., Enverga, Frum, Merchant, Nancy Ruth, Ogilvie, Raine, Seidman, Stewart Olsen and Wallace (11).
In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on March 26, 2015, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-591, An Act to amend the Canada Pension Plan and the Old Age Security Act (pension and benefits).

The chair made a statement.
It was agreed that the Honourable Senator Wallace read into record the statement of Mr. Dave Van Kesteren, M.P., (Chatham-Kent-Essex), sponsor of the bill.
The Honourable Senator Wallace read the statement.
Ms. O'Sullivan and Ms. Latimer each made a statement and, together with Ms. Giordano, answered questions.
At 11:24 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
