The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 4:18 p.m., in room 160- S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Bovey, Cordy, Dawson, Downe, Duffy, Gold, Housakos, Ngo, Oh, Patterson, Saint-Germain and Woo (14).
In attendance: Natalie Mychajlyszyn, Pascal Tremblay and Alexandra Smith, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on October 5, 2016, the committee continued its consideration of Bill S-219, An Act to deter Iran-sponsored terrorism, incitement to hatred, and human rights violations. At 5:12 p.m., the committee resumed.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on March 22, 2016, the committee continued its study on the opportunities for strengthening cooperation with Mexico since the tabling, in June 2015, of the committee report entitled North American Neighbours: Maximizing Opportunities and Strengthening Cooperation for a more Prosperous Future. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 13.)
The chair made a statement.
After debate, the Honourable Senator Cordy moved:
That the following supplementary budget application (on the opportunities for strengthening cooperation with Mexico since the tabling, in June 2015, of the committee report entitled North American Neighbours: Maximizing Opportunities and Strengthening Cooperation for a more Prosperous Future) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, in the amount of $10,500 be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 5:15 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:16 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room during the meeting.
At 5:28 p.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on March 22, 2016, the committee continued its study on recent political and economic developments in Argentina in the context of their potential impact on regional and global dynamics, including on Canadian policy and interests, and other related matters. Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee consider a draft report.
