The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 10:29 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Douglas Black, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black (Alberta), Boyer, Dagenais, Marwah, Mockler, Tannas, Tkachuk and Wallin (8).

In attendance: Adriane Yong and Brett Stuckey, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Friday, November 17, 2017, the committee began its consideration of the government response to the fifteenth report of the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce, entitled National Corridor: Enhancing and Facilitating Commerce and Internal Trade, tabled in the Senate on June 21, 2017.

APPEARING:

The Honourable Marc Garneau, P.C., M.P., Minister of Transport.

WITNESSES:

Transport Canada:

Sandra LaFortune, Director General, International Relations and Trade Policy;

Emilia Warriner, Director, Transportation Infrastructure Programs.

The chair made a statement.

The minister made a statement and, together with Ms. Warriner, answered questions.

At 11:32 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
