The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:16 p.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Douglas Black, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Black (Alberta), Dagenais, Day, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Duncan, Frum, Klyne, Marshall, Mockler, Stewart Olsen, Verner, P.C., and Wallin (13).

In attendance: Adriane Yong and Brett Stuckey, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, the committee continued its study on the present state of the domestic and international financial system. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

Stephen S. Poloz, Governor;

Carolyn A. Wilkins, Senior Deputy Governor.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Poloz made a statement and, together with Ms. Wilkins, answered questions.

At 6:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
