The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 6:30 p.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Rosa Galvez, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cordy, Eaton, Galvez, LaBoucane-Benson, Massicotte, McCallum, McCoy, Mitchell, Mockler, Neufeld, Oh, Patterson, Seidman and Woo (14).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Pratte (1).

In attendance: Jesse Good and Sam Banks, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, the committee began its examination of Bill C-69, An Act to enact the Impact Assessment Act and the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, to amend the Navigation Protection Act and to make consequential amendments to other acts. Mr. Railton made a statement and, together with Mr. Schumann, answered questions.

At 7:30 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:33 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Kneen made a statement and answered questions.

Mr. Carlton made a statement and, together with Mr. Gemmel, answered questions.

At 8:25 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
