The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable David Tkachuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Bovey, Boyer, Cormier, Dawson, Gagné, Galvez, Manning, Mercer, Oh, Plett, Raine and Tkachuk (13).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Griffin, McCoy and Verner, P.C. (3).
In attendance: Jed Chong and Zackery Shaver, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, the committee began its consideration of Bill S-245, An Act to declare the Trans Mountain Pipeline Project and related works to be for the general advantage of Canada.
WITNESS:
The Honourable Senator Douglas Black, sponsor of the bill.
The chair made a statement.
Senator Black made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:02 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:04 a.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, the committee proceeded in camera to continue its study on emerging issues related to its mandate and ministerial mandate letters. Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).
At 11:12 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
