OTTAWA, Wednesday, June 5, 2013


The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:16 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Irving Gerstein, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Campbell, Gerstein, Greene, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Maltais, Massicotte, Moore, Nancy Ruth, Oliver, Ringuette and Tkachuk (12).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare and Segal (2).

In attendance: Brett Stuckey and Adriane Yong, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-377, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (requirements for labour organizations). At 5:17 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:21 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Mancinelli, Mr. Dassios, Mr. Hochstein and Mr. Moist each made a statement and answered questions.

The Honourable Senator Hervieux-Payette, P.C., moved:

That the following material be filed as an exhibit with the clerk of the committee:

Letter from the Honourable Stéphane Dion, P.C., M.P., relating to Bill C-377 (1120-04-02- 1.41/B1-C-377, 36 ``1'').

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
