The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 10:31 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Senator Bob Runciman, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Dagenais, Fraser, Frum, Jaffer, Joyal, P.C., McIntyre, Ngo, Runciman and White (10).

In attendance: Lyne Casavant, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, the committee continued its study of Bill S-12, An Act to amend the Statutory Instruments Act and to make consequential amendments to the Statutory Instruments Regulations.

WITNESSES:

John Walter, Chief Executive Officer;

Michel Girard, Vice President, Policy and Stakeholder Relations.

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Walter made a statement and, together with Mr. Girard, answered questions.

At 11:27 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
