The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day, at 2 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Day, Finley, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., McInnis, Smith (Saurel) and Stewart Olsen (10).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senators Dyck, Mercer, Mitchell, Mockler, Neufeld, Plett and White (7).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Édison Roy-César, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, the committee continued its examination of the subject-matter of all of Bill C-45, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 29, 2012 and other measures, introduced in the House of Commons on October 18, 2012. At 3:04 p.m., the committee resumed.

The Honourable Senator White and the Honourable Senator Dyck each made a statement and together answered questions.

At 3:23 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 3:25 p.m., the committee resumed.

The Honourable Senator Mockler made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
