The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:50 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Black, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Day, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., McInnis, Moore, Smith (Saurel) and Wells (12).
In attendance: Édison Roy-César, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, the committee continued its examination of Bill S-217, An Act to amend the Financial Administration Act (borrowing of money).
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Buth:
That the committee not proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill S-217, An Act to amend the Financial Administration Act (borrowing of money);
That pursuant to rule 12-23(5) the committee recommend that the Senate not proceed further with the bill;
That the committee adopt the attached draft report;
That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to make minor editorial revisions; and
That this report be presented in the Senate at the earliest opportunity.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted on the following vote:
