The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:12 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Hubley, Losier-Cool, MacDonald, Manning, Oliver, Patterson, Poirier and Raine (8).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Harb (1).

In attendance: Claude Emery, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; and Ceri Au, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 20, 2011, the committee continued its study on the management of the grey seal population off Canada's East Coast. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

WITNESSES:

Eldred Woodford, President;

Frank Pinhorn, Executive Director.

Mr. Pinhorn made a statement and, together with Mr. Woodford, answered questions.

At 7 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
