The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:29 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cordy, Eaton, Enverga, Martin, Merchant, Munson, Ogilvie, Seidman, Seth and Verner, P.C. (10).
In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, the committee began its study on Bill C-313, An Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act (non-corrective contact lenses).

Patricia Davidson, Member of Parliament for Sarnia-Lambton, Sponsor of the bill
The chair made a statement.
Mr. Mehta and Dr. Linton each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
At 11:24 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:27 a.m., the committee resumed.
Ms. Davidson made a statement and answered questions.
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-313, An Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act (non-corrective contact lenses).
It was agreed that title stand postponed.
It was agreed that clause 1 carry.
It was agreed that clause 2 carry.
It was agreed that the title carry.
It was agreed that the bill carry.
It was agreed that the chair report the bill to the Senate.
