The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Larry W. Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Chaput, Eaton, Gerstein, Hervieux- Payette, P.C., Mockler, Rivard, Smith (Saurel), Wells (9).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 8.)

Christine Donoghue, Senior Vice President, Policy;

Philip Morton, Director General of Finance and Administration.

Standards Council of Canada:

Ernie Briard, Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer;

Michel Girard, Vice President, Strategy;

Sandra E. Watson, Vice President, Communications and Corporate Planning and Corporate Secretary.

Ms. Robinson made a statement and, together with Ms. Donoghue, Mr. Thom and Mr. Morton, answered questions.

At 10:36 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:40 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Briard made a statement and, together with Mr. Girard and Ms. Watson, answered questions.

At 11:30 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
