The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Chaput, Day, Eaton, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Maltais, Rivard, Smith (Saurel) and Wallace (10).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 26, 2015, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 28.)

WITNESSES:

Telefilm Canada:

Carolle Brabant, Executive Director (by video conference);

Denis Pion, Director, Administration and Corporate Services (by video conference).

Canadian Museum of History:

Mark O'Neill, President and Chief Executive Officer;

David Loye, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President.

Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada:

Paul Thoppil, Chief Financial Officer;

Scott Stevenson, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Regional Operations;

Stephen Van Dine, Assistant Deputy Minister, Northern Affairs.

Mr. O'Neill made a statement and, together with Mr. Loye, answered questions.

Ms. Brabant made a statement and, together with Mr. Pion, answered questions.

At 10:36 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:40 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Thoppil made a statement and, together with Mr. Stevenson and Mr. Van Dine, answered questions.

At 11:34 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
