The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day, at 10:28 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Cordy, Eaton, Enverga, Nancy Ruth, Ogilvie, Seidman, Seth and Stewart Olsen (9).
In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the committee continued its study of the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 11, 17, 20, 27 and 30 of Part 6 of Bill C-31, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures. At 10:54 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:04 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Rahman and Ms. Watts-Rynard each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
At 11:42 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:45 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16 (1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft report.
At 11:54 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
