The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dawson, Eggleton, P.C., Greene, MacDonald, Plett and Unger (6).

In attendance: Dillian Theckedath and Terrence (Terry) Thomas, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Karen Schwinghamer, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, the committee began its study on Industry Canada's User Fee Proposal, dated April 2015, for Fixed-Satellite Services and Broadcasting-Satellite Services Spectrum in Canada, pursuant to the User Fees Act, S.C. 2004, c. 6, sbs. 4(2).

WITNESSES:

Industry Canada:

Daniel Duguay, Director General, Engineering, Planning and Standards Branch;

Shari Scott, Manager, Satellite Authorization Policy, Engineering, Planning and Standards Branch.

Mr. Duguay made a statement and, together with Ms. Scott, answered questions.

At 10:03 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft report.

The committee began its consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed that the report be adopted.

At 10:09 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
